Driving in France.
Get the practical steps sorted.

Exchange a foreign licence, find and buy a car, register a vehicle or get the insurance paperwork moving. I help you navigate the French administrative side in English, whether you are bringing a vehicle or buying one here.

What I can help with

From licence to keys and paperwork.

Choose the step you need, or ask for one scope covering several connected tasks.

01

Check the licence route

I’ll work through the current official guidance with you. Not every foreign licence needs to be exchanged, and some cannot be. If an exchange is available, I can organise the documents and help prepare your France Titres application.

02

Search for a vehicle

Tell me your budget and criteria. I can look for suitable listings, make factual enquiries in French, arrange viewings and help organise an independent inspection before you make your decision.

03

Prepare the purchase

I can help you understand the seller’s documents, keep track of what is missing and organise the factual exchanges and paperwork around the sale. You choose the vehicle, sign the agreement and pay the seller yourself.

04

Register the vehicle

For a car bought in France or brought from abroad, I can help assemble the documents and prepare the applicable registration steps. The requirements differ with the vehicle’s history and country of registration.

05

Get insurance paperwork ready

I can help gather the details an insurer requests, prepare your questions in French and keep track of the documents and correspondence. You discuss cover and conclude the contract directly with the insurer or a registered professional.

06

Respond and follow up

I can explain a request for further documents, draft a factual response in French and track the agreed application. You retain control of your accounts and pay official charges directly.

Ways to work together

A clear price where the file is standard.

Official charges, translations, vehicle inspections and other third-party costs are separate.

Driving licence exchange paperwork

€149

I’ll check the published exchange requirements for your licence, provide a document list, organise the file, help complete the France Titres application and review it with you before submission.

For one applicant with the required documents available. Includes one factual response to a request for missing documents. A refusal, disputed eligibility, missing foreign records or further follow-up is quoted separately. The €40 official exchange tax, when due, is not included.

Fixed quote

Search and seller correspondence, purchase documents, registration, a change to an existing vehicle record or another driving-licence request can be quoted separately or together. We agree exactly which steps I’ll handle.

The vehicle price, registration taxes, insurance premium, conformity documents and technical inspections are separate. More involved licence cases can also be quoted.

How it works

A plan for the steps you need.

01

Describe your situation

Tell me about the licence, the vehicle you want to buy or the car you are bringing, plus any deadline.

02

Confirm the scope

I’ll check the relevant process and confirm whether the €149 licence service fits or send a written quote for the vehicle work.

03

Get the agreed help

I’ll carry out the agreed research, correspondence and paperwork, and keep you informed in English.

Your choices

You stay in control.

You choose and buy the vehicle, approve applications, keep your passwords and verification codes and pay sellers and official bodies directly. An independent mechanic handles a technical assessment; the authorities decide licensing and registration outcomes.

An insurer or registered insurance professional explains and recommends cover and concludes the insurance contract with you. I can coordinate the agreed factual paperwork and correspondence around those decisions.

Good to know

Common questions.

Do I have to exchange my foreign licence?

It depends on where and when it was issued and your circumstances. An EU/EEA licence, and a UK licence issued before 2021, often remains valid without an immediate exchange. Rules for licences issued elsewhere differ. I’ll check the relevant official guidance with you before proposing an application.

What if my licence cannot be exchanged?

The official simulator helps identify whether a non-European licence is exchangeable. If it is not, a French driving test may be necessary. I won’t sell you an exchange application that cannot be made.

Is the €40 government charge included?

No. Since May 2026, an official €40 tax stamp generally applies to a foreign-licence exchange. You pay it directly through the official procedure where applicable; it is separate from my €149 service.

Can you help register a car I brought from abroad?

Yes, with the administrative file. The documents depend on the country of previous registration and the vehicle’s situation. Tell me what you have and I’ll quote for the work after checking the relevant official requirements.

Can you help with other France Titres driving or vehicle requests?

Yes, depending on the procedure. For example, I can help organise a replacement or renewal request for a driving licence, or an address update on a vehicle registration. Tell me what has changed and what you have already submitted; I’ll quote for the relevant administrative steps.

Can you help me find and buy a car in France?

Yes. I can search listings to your criteria, contact sellers in French, organise viewings and help you gather the documents for a purchase and registration. You make the purchase decision and payment; if you want a mechanical opinion, we can arrange a check with an independent professional.

Can you help me arrange car insurance?

I can help prepare the information an insurer asks for and assist with factual correspondence. For recommendations about a particular policy and concluding the contract, you deal directly with an insurer or registered insurance professional.
